The Zeiss Cirrus Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT) uses a unique technology that allows us to examine in detail the deepest ocular tissues and structures in cross section and three dimensionally. The ocular structures that we can examine include the retina and macula, the optic nerve and nerve fiber layer and the vitreous. With this instrument we are able to virtually separate and and study the individual layers of the retina. The result is our ability to now detect and manage a large number of ocular conditions and diseases including glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and optic nerve disease. This is new technology that did not exist just a few short years ago.
